MCAC Recognizes Baseball All-Division Team

MCAC Recognizes Baseball All-Division Team

The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) office has announced the MCAC Baseball All-Division awards for the 2025 season.

Following the conclusion of the regular season, MCAC baseball coaches nominated and ranked the players for each division - North, Central, and South.  The top players from each division, based on rankings at their position, were then named to the MCAC All-Division Team. Coaches in each division also selected their Player-of-the-Year and Coach-of-the-Year.

In the MCAC North Division, Ian Becker, a sophomore third baseman from Minnesota North College - Rainy River, was selected as the Player of the Year.  Jonathan Lund, head coach at Northland Community and Technical College, was named the Coach of the Year.

In 42 games, Becker had 58 hits in his 122 at-bats for a .475 batting average. He scored 41 runs and had six home runs, 15 doubles, and two triples. Becker drove in 38 runs, walked 29 times, and stole 11 bases. His on base percentage was .580 and his slugging percentage was .779. Defensively, he had 63 put-outs and 40 assists in 113 total chances for a .912 fielding percentage.

Coach Lund led his Pioneers team to the MCAC North Division title, compiling a 26-22 overall record and a 17-3 record in the North Division.

Hayden Frank, a sophomore right fielder and left-handed pitcher from St. Cloud Technical and Community College, earned the MCAC Central Division Player-of-the-Year award, and his head coach, David Kroger, was chosen as the Central Division Coach-of-the-Year.

Frank played in 44 games this season and had a batting average of .507 in 136 at-bats. He collected 69 hits with seven doubles, four triples, and 4 home runs. Frank scored 50 runsand had 42 RBI and 29 walks. He also had 24 stolen bases.  Frank had nine starts on the mound and went 5-3, giving up only 12 earned runs and 44 hits in his 52.0 innings of work. He pitched three complete games and had one shutout. His 68 strikeouts for the season ranks 3rd in the MCAC Central and his ERA of 2.08 is tops in the division.

Coach Kroger led his Cyclones to a 29-18 overall record and a 17-3 record in the MCAC Central Division. His team won the Central Division title.

The MCAC South Division Player-of-the-Year is Seth Nelson, a sophomore infielder from Century College. His head coach at Century, Matt Erzar, earned the South Division Coach-of-the-Year award.

Nelson had 65 hits in 156 at bats this season for a .417 batting average. Playing in 51 games, he had 18 doubles and 14 hoe runs, leading the MCAC South in both categories. Nelson drove in 61 runs and scored 70. He walked 33 times and stole 10 bases. His 125 total bases ranked first in the MCAC South Division, and his .801 slugging percentage was 3rd.  Nelson had an exceptional defensive season, gathering 113 put outs and 55 assists in 172 total chances for a .977 fielding percentage.
